VakeelOS
Brand Identity · Volume One
The visual identity of VakeelOS — a chamber-grade operating system for advocates. This book documents the mark, the palette, the type, and the surfaces on which they live.
A chamber, in software.
VakeelOS is a workplace for advocates. Its identity borrows from the things that already sit in a chamber — ivory paper, brass nameplates, files bound in twine, the warm light of a desk lamp. It does not look like a tech product. It looks like an instrument of practice.
Material
Warm ivory paper. Brass-gold accents. Indigo for emphasis. Ink for everything important.
Posture
Measured. Lettered. The dashboard whispers; the system never shouts.
Cadence
Two columns, never three. Generous gutters. Type set with the rhythm of a printed brief.
Restraint
Colour earns its place. A surface stays neutral until a status changes — then, one tone, deliberately.
Two chevrons, one notch.
The primary mark is a stylised V — a hollow outer chevron with an inner stroke offset slightly to the right, producing a small step at the foot. The negative space reads as a notched seal: the kind of impression a chamber stamps onto the corner of its papers.
— Outer chevron
— Inner stroke
— Notch
Drawn in
Uniform stroke weight at ⅛ of the cap height, mitred joins, no radii. The mark must feel cut, not drawn.
Clearspace & minimum sizes.
The mark must be surrounded by clearspace equal to one stroke unit on every side. Below 16 px, switch to the simplified V letterform — the inner notch loses fidelity and the mark begins to read as noise.
The mark, on every surface.
Eight surface treatments cover everything from a paper letterhead to an inverse app icon. On warm fields (brand / accent), the gold reads against itself — swap to a contrasting fill in those treatments.

Mark + wordmark.
The wordmark is set in Fraunces — a contemporary serif with subtle bracketed serifs and a calm modulation. It pairs naturally with the geometric V. Spacing between mark and wordmark is fixed at one-third of the mark height.

THE CHAMBER OS
VakeelOS
Cream gold & indigo.
The palette is built around a warm/cool complementary pair, expressed in OKLCH so the colours behave predictably across light and dark themes. A categorical scale of five sibling hues handles data; a neutral ladder of paper and ink does the rest.
The source of light. Used for the mark, "now" indicators, the brand presence in chamber mode.
deep · oklch(0.72 0.105 70)
soft · oklch(0.94 0.040 70)
The complementary tension. Carries interactive emphasis, comparison metrics, and signal.
deep · oklch(0.55 0.110 250)
soft · oklch(0.94 0.035 250)
Warm ivory paper, warm near-black ink. The neutrals carry 60% of every surface.
ink · oklch(0.21 0.014 75)
rule · oklch(0.92 0.008 75)
Data · Categorical · 5 hues at matched L/C
Even hue spacing at identical lightness (0.62) and chroma (0.14) — these five colours read as siblings in a chart, never as five competing voices.
Neutrals · Paper-to-ink ladder
The proportion rule.
A chamber surface is sixty percent neutral, thirty percent warm, ten percent cool. Reverse the ratio and the design feels loud; widen the neutrals further and it goes corporate. This balance is what makes the system feel like paper rather than software.
60% · Neutral
Surfaces, type, rules, hairlines. The page itself.
30% · Warm
The mark, primary buttons, the chamber seal, the page glow.
10% · Cool
Active states, "now" indicators, comparison metrics.
Three voices.
Type carries the weight of the brand. Fraunces lends gravitas to brand moments and documents. Inter is the workhorse for everything else. JetBrains Mono carries metadata, eyebrows, and identifiers — anything that reads as a citation.
A measured ladder.
The scale climbs in a roughly 1.25 ratio. Eyebrows sit at 10–11px, body at 14px, the dashboard's headline at 30px. Anything above 36px is a brand moment and earns Fraunces.
How VakeelOS speaks.
Plain. Lettered. The product writes like a careful junior at the chamber — never breezy, never officious. Verbs do the work. Sentences end early.
"Three matters need your sign-off."
"Hey there! You've got 3 awesome tasks to crush 🎉"
"Hearing in 14 minutes. Court 27, second floor."
"Your upcoming hearing event is approaching soon."
"Draft saved. Two clauses still pending review."
"Successfully saved! Don't forget to review the remaining items."
A chamber-set, drawn by hand.
Every icon in VakeelOS is custom-drawn to share the V mark's construction language. The same mitred joins, the same square caps, a single stroke weight, and a small brass dot that punctuates the family like a chamber seal. No icon font, no Lucide, no shortcuts.
A folio with a brass-stamped corner. The chamber's daybook, miniaturised.
Stroke
1.5 / currentColor
Single weight across the set so the family reads as one hand.
Joins
Mitred · square caps
No round joins anywhere. The set should feel cut from brass.
Accent
Brass dot · brand-deep
A tiny seal on icons that earn it — Dashboard, Causelist, Calendar, Research, Brand.
The mark, in the wild.
Six surfaces a practising advocate's chamber actually uses — the business card, the chamber seal, the case file, the vakalatnama, the email signature, the app splash. Each one is a working artefact, not a mockup.

One mark, every platform.
The same V mark sits inside containers shaped for each operating system. The artwork never changes; only the corner radius and background do. This is how an icon family stays coherent across the App Store, Play, and the browser tab.

Stationery.
The chamber's letterhead is the most public artefact of the brand. It earns the V watermark, the brass rule, and the full lockup. Every other surface descends from this one.

Misuse.
The mark survives most contexts. It does not survive being warped, recoloured outside the palette, set on cluttered grounds, or pressed too close to other elements. Six failure modes, all of which a careful eye catches before press.
